Dedicated to our beloved fur baby Troy – #TroyTheSpottyRescueDog 1.1.02 – 2.2.17
We love you!

For those of you who have dogs in your life- how lucky you are.  For those of you who don’t, I highly recommend spending time with dogs when you can.

We all need to learn to “Be More Dog

You may not have time or space for a furry friend of your own but there are loads of gorgeous dogs who would love to spend time with you.  Why not offer to walk dogs at your local shelter or borrow a neighbour’s dog for an afternoon: https://www.borrowmydoggy.com/

Things we can learn from our furry friends….

1. Greet others with joy, kindness and love

How wonderful do you feel when a dog comes bounding up to you with a wagging tail and nothing but pure joy and excitement to see you.  You can make others feel that great too… Be happy to connect with all beings you meet- every meeting is an chance to share love and create new opportunities.  From collaboration comes the greatest rewards.

2. Look at everything as if for the first time

Every day is different from the last and you will never experience the present moment again. The same way a dog sees a ball like he’s never seen one before, you too can approach each activity with new wonder. Look for something new in every task, even the most mundane and frequent chore can be a chance to learn something new. Perhaps sweeping can be your time to meditate!? Bring mindfulness into every activity this week and see how it can transform your life.

It may appear like the same ball but today you can choose to play a different game with it.

3. Love unconditionally

Dogs give love unconditionally unless they have a fear of something.  We need to learn to love unconditionally too, but just like dogs it can be difficult if we live in fear. So before we can love others fully, we must learn to love ourselves. Pay attention to your thoughts and be mindful to make them all positive- to yourself and to others. Notice when you have unkind thoughts- these are fear based thoughts and are not conducive to love. Forgive yourself for any negative thinking and choose to turn them to a positive. Instead, try to think of one thing that’s good about the situation or person that has brought up a negative feeling- including you. Be grateful for what you have, there is always someone worse off than you.

Look at everything as though it is a miracle and more miracles will present themselves to you.  You and your life are miracles!

4. Play

Think about the last time you really had fun? Perhaps it was playing a sport, singing, dancing maybe!?  How wonderful is that joyful, childlike abandon!? If you can’t remember, then next time your passing by, or in a park, spend some time observing dogs and children playing, see how free they are. How joyful the dogs look while running with their dog buddies or chasing a stick in the park. How much the children laugh, as they run without a care in the world. We must make time to play like this… play is good for the soul.

Make time to really play with your children or pets. Leave the phone and other distractions and enjoy living and playing in the moment.

5. Be A Loyal Friend

Stand by the people who look out for you.  The people who love you unconditionally and support you.  Be there when they need you and stay by their side through the good and bad times.  Bring the four points above into your friendships and close relationships.

Learn to live in the moment with your loved ones and appreciate the precious time you have with them….

Be More Dog

What is life about if not the 5 points above!?  Live your life to it’s highest potential, with kindness, joy and love.  See the miracle in everything, have fun and enjoy time with your loved ones.
